{"id":657,"date":"2019-04-21T08:41:28","date_gmt":"2019-04-21T08:41:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.unveilingwiesbaden.com\/?p=657"},"modified":"2019-04-21T08:45:50","modified_gmt":"2019-04-21T08:45:50","slug":"spargelcreamsuppe-asparagus-cream-soup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unveilingwiesbaden.com\/index.php\/2019\/04\/21\/spargelcreamsuppe-asparagus-cream-soup\/","title":{"rendered":"Spargelcreamsuppe (Asparagus Cream Soup)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our first encounter was at the Wiesbaden farmer&#8217;s market.\u00a0 Dumbfounded by their pallid lifeless appearance, I imagined the vampire rabbit <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bunnicula:_A_Rabbit-Tale_of_Mystery\">Bunnicula<\/a><\/strong> showing no mercy and ravishing the market before my arrival, sucking the color and flavor out of the stalks labelled, &#8220;Spargel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve since learned to appreciate why the Germans refer to this Spring staple as &#8220;white gold.&#8221;\u00a0 It&#8217;s temperamental, you won&#8217;t find this delicacy on tables until birds return to branches and dandelions sprout from palms of eager children making wishes.<\/p>\n<p>My attempt to bring the aroma I&#8217;d only inhaled over restaurant linens to my stove top brought me to Christie Dietz.\u00a0 She&#8217;s the brain, beauty and humor behind the website,<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asausagehastwo.com\/\">A Sausage Has Two<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 Her recipes have yet to fail me (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unveilingwiesbaden.com\/index.php\/2018\/09\/01\/the-star-of-german-festivals-flammkuchen\/\"><strong>Flammkuchen)<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 Apparently I&#8217;m not the only fan.
